Class: KeynoteSession Title: Brain Hacks and Breasts: The Science of Compassion
Understand how compassion (instead of empathy) can guide us to protect and care for ourselves and our patients/clients. Understanding the science behind stress and trauma processing allows us to steer clients in the direction that will bring them to a place of joy and recovery. Using breast cancer patients as examples, this presentation will help you learn how to communicate effectively, hold a boundary of compassion, and ensure that you go home at the end of the day feeling fulfilled instead of exhausted. You will walk away with compassion-based communication tips and an emotional first-aid kit that you can use to improve your own well-being.Learning Objectives:
1. Analyze how initial interactions can profoundly affect client/patient experience.
2. Review cognitive research on the ways that stress affects mental processing.
3. Discuss different interventions and how they improve client/patient care & engagement.
4. Build a toolbox of methods that support you as a caregiver.CEUs: ABCOP: 1.0 Scientific | BOC: 1.25 Scientific
