Causes of Hair Loss Among Women

Hair loss in women is more prevalent than ever these days. The fact of the matter is hair loss is not life threatening, however it is life-altering.  This session will review medical conditions that cause hair loss, such as: hormonal imbalances, cancer treatments, and the types of Alopecia.  It is important to create awareness and understanding to allow professionals caring for women to assist with scalp and hair health.   At the end of this session, participants will have a deeper understating of the difference between hair loss among men vs. women, and why it is important to know the difference.  Healthy Scalp = Healthy hair.

Learning Objectives: 

- Differentiate women's hair loss from men's hair loss.
- Understand the definition of Alopecia.
- Define what trichology and how trichology can help women with hair loss.

This session has been approved for 1.5 Scientific credits through the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) and 1.25 Category I Scientific credits through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC).
