The Anatomy of a Custom Breast Prosthesis

This session will break down the step-by-step process and give a hands-on experience of how a custom breast prosthesis is created. Participants will identify differences between custom breast prostheses and off-the-shelf breast forms. This session will also explain some of the common patient scenarios regarding post-surgical complications, and individual skin tones and anatomical features, where a custom breast prosthesis is appropriate.   

Learning Objectives:

1. Name the stages it takes to develop a custom breast prosthesis.
2. Explain the differences between custom breast prostheses and off-the-shelf breast forms.
3. Identify post-surgical complications, skin tone, and anatomical feature issues that a custom breast prosthesis can solve.

CEUs:
This session has been approved for 1.75 Scientific credits through the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) and 1.5 Category I Scientific credits through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC).
