American Breast Care: Cornerstones to Success

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The ABC’s of Fitting Beyond Fitting: Cornerstones to Success course is an extension of the Basic Foundations of Fitting course and is recognized by both ABC and BOC as a “Continuing Education” course for an experienced fitter. This course explores critical topics, such as billing, more deeply than time allows for in the Basic Foundations of Fitting course. This course is most appropriate for an experienced mastectomy fitter, however, a new or inexperienced mastectomy fitter will benefit greatly as it will better prepare the individual for the ABC and/or BOC mastectomy fitter certification exam.

Mission Possible: Women's Health Reimbursement

Presenter: Ronda Buhrmester, Senior Director, Payer Relations, VGM Government Relations

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 | 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Providing medically necessary products to your clients is the reason you chose to be in this industry. The challenge is to understand the requirements coming from referrals to payers that will enable accurate and timely filing for these products in addition to servicing your clients timely.  The mission, should you accept, is to also protect your business by ensuring timely payment for the products and services offered.

The mission is possible as long as you have an understanding of the home medical equipment industry process from intake to billing and the proper tools and resources to successfully complete the mission. You won’t have to climb the tallest building in the world or jump from building to building to complete the mission.

In this mission, you will be introduced to the variety of contractors hired by the Medicare program and other payers and identify the payment categories. The session will go through steps for the complete intake process where the gathering of patient information is vital to proper claim submission.  Highlights will also include recognizing a valid order and the documentation necessary prior to submitting a claim for payment.  The last step of the mission is preparing for claim submission resulting in the payment.

It is time to accept this mission by registering for Mission Possible: Women's Health Reimbursement.

Learning Objectives:

- Identify the different contractors for CMS Medicare and different payers.
- Review the key steps during the intake process.
- Evaluate documentation and order requirements as it relates to medical policies.
- Discuss the claims filing submission process from modifiers, timely filing, and working with a denial or rejection.

CEUs: ABCOP: 3.0 Business | BOC: 3.0 Business
